In the school, we refer to as life, we are taught many things and tested constantly before we graduate. As in any school, some graduate with honors, others are average while some barely making the passing mark! Then of course we have those who didn’t learn anything, goofed off, partied and tried to get others to do their work for them. The party animal can be the life of the party and do so many things that appear to be fun. They can make doing bad stuff look fun & has lured many to follow their ways. When it comes testing time they make a big deal out of it, copy off of what others have learned but never truly learn a darn thing.

Many do not pass the first lesson in life and it makes it hard to complete any course since it such an essential lesson to learn. Accepting responsibility for your mistakes is one of the most important things you need to learn in life. Without learning this, you will never learn from your mistakes. You shouldn’t accept blame for anyone else’s mistakes yet you need to be honest and accept yours.

One of my most remembered sayings is “It is what it is, was what it was – but what it becomes is entirely up to you.” In essence, you can’t change your past and you can’t change what it is today but you can learn from it and change it in the future. One of the most honorable things a person can do is accept their mistakes, give a heartfelt apology when needed and take from their mistakes enough knowledge that they don’t repeat it.

Accept your mistakes, analyze them, learn from them, apologize meaningfully, and go forth a wiser more compassionate person. I hope all your life’s lessons are easy ones and you recognize them immediately so you have the chance to learn from them!
